  • What kind of books do you publish?

We help authors publish all types of books covering health and wellness. Our aim is to bring books to market which inspire, uplift and support wellbeing.

We can produce various formats for your book, including hard copy and paperback copies, and we offer different book binding choices such as perfect bound, which is the most common option, and spiral bound for authors who want a unique look for their book.

Once we've reviewed your book and had our consultation with you, we'll be able to decide on the best design and format options for your book.

Email us at info@wellnessbooks.co.uk to get started.

  • How much will it cost to publish my book?

The cost of publishing with us is dependent on various factors, including the length of your book, how much work it needs, and what kind of design options you want for your book.

We try to keep prices fair to authors but also ensure that they reflect the hard work and skill of our book designers and editors.

As such, prices generally range from between £3,000 for a basic self-publishing package and £10,000 for the full works.

We'll agree the cost of publishing with you once we've reviewed your manuscript and know which services you require.

  • Do I have to pay up front?

We usually ask for payment when you make an order to cover the costs of producing your book. However, we don’t want this to prohibit authors from releasing wellness books to the market.

If needed, we can arrange payment in installments. In this instance, you'll be able to pay half of the costs upfront and the remainder once we're finished.

We'll discuss your payment options with you during our initial consultation.

  • What is the difference between self-publishing and traditional publishing?

The key difference between traditional publishing and self-publishing is that authors who self-publish pay to have their book published up front.

There is a certain financial risk involved; however, self-published authors retain control over their creation and keep any profits the book might make after paying for printing.

Authors who opt for a traditional publisher hand the rights over to the publisher. While these authors might be offered an advance, this is offset by a much smaller share of any profits from sales of the book - and the advance has to be paid off before you receive any of the royalties from your book.

Both methods have their pros and cons.

Publishing the traditional way comes with a certain prestige, however it is incredibly competitive and only a small percentage of writers are signed up by traditional publishers or agents. These are often celebrities, authors with a long history of top-selling books or new writers with a very strong proposal and the prospect of high sales.

This often means that many wonderful books which should be published are overlooked.

However, a traditional publisher will take care of things such as the distribution of your book and some of its marketing.

Self-publishing is an avenue for talented writers to publish, and allows them to do it on their terms. This method offers more creative control and is a much quicker way to get your book into print.

Platforms such as Amazon KDP and IngramSpark allow indie authors to do all the same things provided to authors by traditional publishers - however, self-publishing a book can be tricky.

That's why we're here - to support authors who want to self-publish a book through the publishing process, and to help great books come to life.

  • Is self-publishing for me?

Self-publishing is an option for first-time writers who want more control of the process or have a strong idea of how they want their book to look.

It is also the choice for writers who, for whatever reason, may have been passed over by traditional publishers – and often, that has nothing to do with the quality of your manuscript or book proposal.

Lots of authors who’ve had their books published before also opt for self-publishing; in a business sense, publishing a book yourself can be the right option because of the higher royalties and that are potentially yours to keep.

Self-publishing, however, is not for the feint-hearted. Publishing a book can be a complicated process, and as an author, you’ll have to be fully committed to the process.

However, we’re here to help. As your publishing partner, we’ll ensure that books that are self-published don’t look self-published.

With the help of our highly skilled designers and top-quality printers, your self-published book will look every bit as good as a best-seller.

  • What does print on demand mean?

In the past, authors had to print a minimum number of books, which often led to wastage, while printing machines required set-up fees often costing thousands of pounds.

Print on demand uses digital technology to print a small number of books or even a single book.

This method of printing means that book orders can be fulfilled as soon as they arrive, through outlets such as Amazon, rather than having to keep copin storage in anticipation of an order coming in.

Print on demand is an efficient and cost-effective way of printing a book.

  • Will I retain the rights to my book?

Absolutely! Copyright laws protect your book from plagiarism or from having someone else claim your original work or publish it without your permission, etc.

When you publish with Wellness Books, we simply act as the means through which your book is published. Copyright remains with you, the author, and we also hand over copyright of the cover we design for your book, too, so you can safely say that your book is your own.

  • How long will it take to publish my book?

Publishing your book can take anywhere from 3-6 months. The length of time it takes to publish your book depends on a number of variables, including at what stage of development is your manuscript, as well as the format/complexity of the job.

We always make clear to authors that within publishing there are circumstances beyond our control which can delay your order, such as equipment malfunction or damage to books during delivery. As such, the timings we offer are guidelines rather than guarantees.

We understand how exciting it is to receive your book in print and we always advise our authors to expect the unexpected from time to time, to avoid disappointment.

When you contact us about your book, we’ll talk you through each step of the publishing process so you’ll know what to expect.

  • Will I be able to sell my book on Amazon?

Yes. Most of your book sales will most likely come from Amazon. We can help you with this process.

We’ll help to upload your book to Amazon KDP and if you want to produce an e-book, we'll ensure it's set up on Amazon, too.

In KDP, you'll be able to receive reports into how many sales of your book there have been and manage the price and/or promotions.

  • How do I sell my book overseas?

As the largest online retailer in the world, Amazon remains the best place to sell your book online - to almost anywhere in the world.

When you publish on Amazon, it will print and distribute the book on your behalf in the UK via Amazon.co.uk or to most other countries through Amazon.com.

  • What is the minimum number of books I can order?

Theoretically, you could place an order of a single book – although we don’t recommend this as the admin and delivery fee would make it uneconomical.

Printing in bulk through a long run printer can provide you with the cheapest price in terms of cost per book.

When you contact us, we’ll talk you through the most cost-effective option for buying copies of your book.

  • How much money will I earn?

It's difficult to predict how much money you can earn from publishing a book.

Self-publishing can be more lucrative than traditional book publishing. Authors who self-publish stand to make up to 60% from each book sold. If you’re traditionally published, expect royalties of approximately 10%-12% of the books you sell.

So, while there's huge potential to make money from your book, authors have to consider how they'll market their book in order to benefit from these high royalties.
